The St Olav Drama (Spelet om Heilag Olav)
“The St. Olav Drama” is Scandinavia’s largest and Norway’s oldest open-air theater and is performed yearly during the Olsok festival “Olsok days/St. Olavs days” at the end of July. The history of Norway’s most important battle and St. Olav’s heritage is conveyed during the play.
The drama is played out on the actual battlefield, Stiklestad, where Olav Haraldsson fell in 1030 and allows you to relive the holy King’s last days. It happens in an environment and with a framework that only nature, history and talented actors can create. This creates a unique frame around the performance. It is a mixture of fiction and historical events built on Snorre’s royal sagas and the play is slightly different each year.
The Olsok festival is buzzing with life and you can experience concerts, theater performances, lectures, tours, medieval markets, excursions and activities for the whole family.

Dates for “The St. Olav Drama/Spelet om Heilag Olav” at Stiklestad in 2020: 25., 26., 28. og 29. July.
