Innherred - a hiking friendly destination

Innherred, 1 hour north of Trondheim, is blessed with beautiful scenery and excellent hiking possibilities. How about spending a few days hiking and relaxing at the gateway to Blåfjella Skjækerfjella Nastional Park?

Mokk Farm in Steinkjer is a fabulous base for hiking in Skjækra. Choose between day trips and hikes with accommodation in cabins in the mountains. From the farm courtyard, there are several marked trails suitable for both short and long hikes. A walk to Norways Geographical Midpoint is a must!  

In addition, you must take in on of Trøndelags most spectacular nature adventures; Caving 70 metres underground.

The hike to  Gruvfjellet starts at the farmyard at Mokk and is around 4 km. The destination is the old copper mines from the 1700s. You could choose to continue on towards Lake Skjækervatnet and the rental cabin Skjækerosstu.

The hike follows railway sleepers through fantastic mountain - and marsh landscape towards Blåfjella Skjækerfjella National Park. The hike can be started from Mokk Farm and is then somewhat longer: 26 km.

36,1 km, grading: demanding
Skjækerhatten mountain is a challenging summit hike in Blåfjella Skjækerfjella National Park. The hike is most suitable with to nights stay (before and after the ascent to the top). Steinkjer Kommuneskoger's cabin Lågvassbu is the perfect base for this hike..
